When I first moved to Lake Chelan I asked the only mom I knew to send me a family for a free photo session so I could get my feet wet in this gorgeous community. My friend is obviously incredibly intuitive as she sent me possibly THE sweetest Chelan grown couple I could ask for! Stacia, Garret and little Decklin were so fun to photograph last fall and grew sweeter still when they pulled the whole Chelan family together for an extended family shoot in their parent’s Manson apple orchard!
When I arrived just before sunset, Grandma took me around to scout out our location. Oh guys, I was just overwhelmed by the beauty of apple trees. I never knew how unique they grew compared to your every day leafy trees. Their v-shaped trunks, flowing branches, and narrow leaves made for the prettiest backdrops that I could easily shoot in front of again and again without tiring! When she told me of all the apple varieties they grow my mouth was watering! I’ve definitely had a HUGE increase in apple consumption since moving to this apple haven and hope I get to taste some of their harvest this fall!
I also loved how comfortable the kids were on the farm, clearly having grown up running around it their whole lives! So what better way to remember this time of life than to have family pictures in the orchard! I hope these are photos each grandkid will cherish as they grow and remember what their grandparent’s shared with and taught them.
Then there was little Decklin, who was clearly the highlight for every cousin and grandparent on location. How could he not be with that face!? He made sure everyone was aware of each truck, car, and tractor within sight, and was particularly pleased when Grandpa took him on a tractor ride to get our apple box for more pictures!
Meeting these sweet families makes me fall more and more in love with my new home here in Lake Chelan and Manson. I’m so glad my kiddos get to grow up running orchards with friends like these. Tasting fresh apples and seeing the beauty that fills this side of the mountains. What a fun life to live and document! Thank you Steague family for trusting me with your sweet extended family photos in your beloved orchards!
