It has been pouring rain here in the Pacific Northwest in what I suppose is typical PNW spring fashion. That is, I know it happens every year, but the dreariness of it always feels new and not exciting. So when there is a sunny day that boasts actual 55 degree weather, we make the most of it!
I called up my girlfriend Jil, who has also been my hair stylist for the past decade, to get outside with my for a fun vintage shoot. She has the BEST vintage clothing selection and brought a tub for us to sort through. The only limitation to our creativity was the sun disappearing behind too thick of clouds instead of giving us a long glow! We decided to go with it anyways, because we both needed a creative beauty outlet that day!
It was fun shooting in the soon to be dark. We had to get more and more creative in finding some light for her skin. The cliffs and water took on that gorgeous nighttime blue and the lights of the refinery looked like a glowing city.
The first outfit looks like she was just heading out of the salon for a cozy bonfire with friends. The mustard color looks so pretty against the cliffs in the fading light.
The second outfit was more vintage cocktail. I’m in love with her pleated blush skirt!
Two thoughts as we finished this shoot:
- Jil is such a stunner.
- She should create a rental shop with all her vintage clothing!
- She is a hair magician.
- Shooting after sunset is not ideal, but you can still get some glamorous shots.
Here’s a fun look of the before and after in this shoot!
