I’m so excited to kick off the 2019 wedding season with this gorgeous Lake Chelan engagement session! Even though the orchards and vineyards are still bare, we took advantage of the amazing lakeside and mountaintop scenery that the area has to offer. You really can’t find a “bad location” over here friends, I love our new home!
Starting at the lake’s edge seemed the natural thing to do with these two cuties. The lake is still super low providing beaches galore to walk along. During the summer, this particular beach at Willow Park, Lake Chelan only has a 10×10 foot beach before you have to dive into the lake! The lake levels change due to the dam and mountain runoff, so if you come visit in the summer, you should definitely visit Chelan in the early spring to see the different landscape! After the beach we headed up into the hills. The hillside sagebrush was the only greenery around, and I don’t know if it’s considered a weed (??), but it made for the perfect soft background combination with those stunning blue mountains!
Gerald and Sedyrra grew up in this incredible landscape. They’ve swam Lake Chelan’s crystal blue waters all their lives and, in recent years, foraged the hillsides for the fresh mushrooms and asparagus! (You bet I was taking pointers on the latter! Love myself some asparagus!)
Their adventurous nature doesn’t stop there. In their years of dating they’ve traveled all over the world and their ongoing list of dream destinations is not short! When asked, the told me their favorite “quick and easy” vacation getaway spot was an all inclusive resort in Mexico. Um, take me next time guys?!
Gerald first met Sedyrra when they both served at one of the towns biggest community service events: the free to anyone, Thankgsiving Day Feed at the Apple Cup Cafe. It didn’t take much for their kindred personalities to fall in love!
Ps. Sedyrra is also one heck of a baker. I’ve had a blueberry muffin of hers from the bakery she (and Gerald) now work at, and I solemnly swear it was the best blueberry muffin I’ve ever had in my entire life. Ever.
This Chelan couple’s love of nature, people, cultures, delicious food, and small town living make them one of the most well rounded, easy to be around, incredibly kind, couples I’ve ever met. I just loved our time together!
During the shoot we took our time waiting for that perfect sunset glow sharing stories about great grandma’s Polish reprimands, their real deal Italian uncle, their past family’s WW2 survival, and the firm foundations their parents laid out for them.
In sum, we talked legacy. Legacies of endurance, kindness, love, vision, and steadfastness. Legacies that Sedyrra and Gerald want to carry on through their own marriage!
This fall, these two plan on having a very intimate wedding filled with their closest and dearest supporters. No wedding party, no extravagant guest list. Just those that have shared with them the power and hope of legacy.
I’m so honored to be photographing this couple and their story!
